Piper Bangs
Piper Bangs is an oil painter from San Antonio, TX living and working in Laguna Beach, CA. She's currently a student in Laguna College of Art and Design’s Painting and Drawing BFA program. She works representationally with figurative and still life subjects, and is interested in how she relates to her body and environment, gaze, and the relationship of the viewer to her work and historical figurative art. Lately, her work is a combination of working from observation and imagination. She recently had solo exhibitions at The Watermill Center in Watermill, NY and Estia’s Little Kitchen in collaboration with The Watermill Center in Sag Harbor, NY. She has received an honorable mention in the AXA Art Prize and has exhibited her work in venues such as the National YoungArts Foundation in Miami, FL, the Czong Institute for Contemporary Art in South Korea, the US Department of Education in Washington, D.C., the Pratt Manhattan Gallery in New York City, NY, and The Contemporary at Blue Star in San Antonio, TX, among others.
