OBSESSED
Zepster Gallery is proud to announce the opening of OBSESSED, an exhibition curated by Shelby Nelson Ward that delves into the complexities of identity, social media, and self-perception in today’s image-driven society. This thought-provoking exhibition will explore how contemporary culture influences our understanding of self-worth and authenticity. OBSESSED reflects on the pervasive impact of social media platforms, examining how they have shaped our relationships and self-image, particularly among younger generations. The exhibition features a range of artworks that address themes of obsession and the struggle for authenticity.
Highlighted works include Kendalle Getty's "Portrait of a Narcissist" (2021), which invites viewers to confront their own insecurities, Thomas Tomczak's "Cassie" (2022), inspired by the character from the HBO series Euphoria, captures the desperate pursuit of validation, Paul-Sebastian Japaz explores the various tensions between place and class in his painting "Not it...Him" (2024), and Jen DeLuna’s piece "Bite of Another" (2024) examines the conflict between self-love and the pressure to curate one’s public persona.
